HOW TO INSPIRE OUR YOUTH TO PLAY PADEL

09/10/2026

If we want our young people to embrace padel, we must begin with a question: are we making it easy, affordable and enjoyable for them to take part?

For me, inspiration starts with opportunity. A young person cannot fall in love with a sport they have never had the chance to try. Bringing padel into schools and communities should therefore be central to how we introduce the game to the next generation.

Schools can give students that first experience in a familiar environment, alongside their friends. Introductory sessions, shared equipment and patient coaching can help remove the fear of being a beginner.

We should put enjoyment first. Let young players laugh, miss shots, learn together and celebrate their progress. Competition has its place, but every session should leave a child wanting to come back.

Cost matters too. Free introductory opportunities and affordable youth sessions can open doors for families. Access to a racket should never become a barrier to discovering a new interest.

We also need coaches who encourage every young person, including those who have yet to find their place in sport. A few positive words can make a lasting difference to someone’s confidence.

At Padel 100, our ambition and our will is to create welcoming spaces where young people feel they belong, and our schools programme of installing free padel courts in schools is where it all starts.

Parents, teachers, clubs and communities all have a role to play. Give our youth the opportunity, encouragement and freedom to enjoy padel, and we give them something valuable: another reason to be active, build friendships and believe in themselves.
